The product
Moon Balance contains:

Maca - a root vegetable known for its hormone-balancing properties and ability to improve mood and energy levels.
Shatavari - a root from the Ayurvedic tradition that supports reproductive health and hormone balance. -
Red beetroot - high in nitrates, which can improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to cells.

Lucuma - a fruit that's rich in beta-carotene and can help support healthy skin and digestion
Study design
This was an open-label observational single-group clinical trial to study the efficacy of the product and its effect on common PMS and menstrual symptoms, as well as health-related biomarkers. Participants were required to complete regular study surveys and take both finger-prick blood samples and saliva samples. All of these samples were collected by the participants themselves using at-home tests and were mailed to the testing facility.
Participants were asked to complete a baseline menstrual well-being survey at day 4 or 5 of the bleed week of the first period that occurs, provide blood (finger prick) and saliva samples, and track their sleep for the entirety of the bleed week (approximately 5 days).
Once the menstrual phase (bleed week) has ended, participants began consuming 1 teaspoon daily of Your Super’s Moon Balance prepared in a beverage of plant-based milk. During the next period, the participants took a menstrual well-being survey to track progress on day 4 or 5 of the bleed week. Participants also tracked their sleep during the entirety of the bleed week via a wearable sleep monitor.
During the next period, participants completed their final menstrual well-being survey on day 4 or 5 of the bleed week and tracked their sleep for the entirety of the bleed week. Additionally, participants again provided blood (finger prick) and saliva samples on day 4 or 5 of the bleed week.
Study onboarding phase
Week 1-3: Awaiting period bleed week.
Week 4: First period (baseline) bleed week: Baseline questionnaire, blood/saliva sampling, sleep tracking.
Intervention phase
Week 5: First intervention week, participants begin daily consumption of Your Super Moon Balance for the following 8 weeks
Week 8: First intervention period: Complete questionnaire, Sleep tracking.
Week 12: Second (and final) intervention period: Complete questionnaire, sleep tracking, and blood/saliva samples.
The participants
Individuals aged 18 - 40 with regular menstrual cycles and moderate self-reported menstrual discomfort, but who were otherwise healthy, were chosen to participate in the study. Participants were advised to discontinue any other oral supplement or prescription targeting their menstruation prior to beginning the study.
