Women Want Better Bone Health Products

Categories: consumer, claims

Bone health is one of the biggest categories in women's health. It's also one of the least served. What 457 US women said about testing, treatment, and trust in a growing market.

More than half of US adults over 50 have low bone density or osteoporosis, and the supplement market built around them is already worth roughly $15 billion a year globally. Yet the women in it aren't satisfied. Citruslabs surveyed 457 US women to find out what they're doing about their bone health and what they think of the products on offer. They know something's going on and they're actively looking for help. What they keep finding is vague advice and generic supplements that don't explain why they work. The findings point to a large group of diagnosed women left without a plan, concern that arrives well ahead of testing, diagnosis, or guidance, and one clear brief for brands: lead with the answer, not the formula. Real Consumer Data: Insights from US women on bone density testing, diagnosis, current supplement use, monthly spend, and what they say is missing. The Stranded Middle: 1 in 5 women surveyed is diagnosed with osteopenia, and 85% of them are doing nothing or taking generic supplements. Ask the ones doing nothing why, and 54% simply don't know what to do. None cite cost. Clarity Beats Formulation: 84% rate the current market 3 out of 5 or lower. When asked what would most improve their options, 62% asked for clear guidance, clinical proof, or education. None of the top three answers were about what's in the bottle.
