Principal Investigator

A principal investigator is the lead researcher responsible for overseeing the study development, the research, and integrity of a clinical trial.

The principal investigator (PI) ensures the study follows all required regulatory guidelines, protects participant safety, and oversees proper study conduct. Most PIs lead a team of researchers and work closely with clinical staff, research teams, ethics committees and sponsors throughout the trial.
