Sourse's philosophy is that the optimal source of nutrients is real, unadulterated food. To this end, Sourse created vitamin-enriched dark chocolate bites using only wholesome, plant-based ingredients. Self-care should be a pleasurable experience. Chocolate was a natural choice because it's a whole food that possesses inherent properties that make it an ideal vehicle for delivering vitamins.

What are the Hype Bites?

Vitamin B12 is a critical vitamin for multiple health outcomes. Individuals who consume a vegan or vegetarian diet are likely not getting enough vitamin B12 because it is traditionally found in animal proteins. To fill that void, Sourse has created Hype Bites, a once-a-day chocolate supplement containing vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, a more digestible form of vitamin B12. To understand the effectiveness of Hype Bites, Sourse decided to run a clinical trial with Citruslabs.

How were the Hype Bites tested?

Participants took the Hype Bites daily for 8 weeks, and we helped Sourse collect thorough data on the biological and subjective changes resulting from taking their product.

Why Use Biomarkers?

Biomarkers are physiological measures of health and wellness, and may be colected through tests such as blood, saliva, or urine analysis. These tests monitor relevant markers such as blood-glucose levels, vitamin deficiencies, or the concentration of certain hormones. This provides brands with measurable changes in participant health and wellness with the use of their product. For instance, a supplement brand may choose to use biomarkers to assess blood cortisol levels in the evenings in order to measure the efficacy of a calming or sleep related product.

Benefits of Clinical Research for Sourse and Other Brands

Clinical evidence that covers both quanitfiable biomarkers and subjective user feedback is invaluable in supporting supplement product claims. Sourse is a fantastic example of a brand impelementing these kinds of clinical research results into their marketing and product presentation.

Study results for Sourse's Hype Bites

Participants experience a significant improvement in most of the outcomes associated with vitamin B12 deficiency. Participants seemed to have improved cognitive functioning and enjoyed using the test product. Hype Bites were also effective at promoting positive changes to vitamin B12 in the blood, hopefully mitigating some adverse outcomes that could come with a vitamin B12 deficiency.
