How we personalize Virtual Trials

Morgan Carpenter

With the increase in virtual, decentralized clinical trials, many participants and brands share concerns about the impersonal nature of virtual research. However, we’ve discovered that acting as a digital CRO actually enables us to personalize our studies and make them more accessible. Today, we’ll overview some of the benefits of opting for a digital CRO, and how we keep our trials as personal as possible online.

Accessibility

Because virtual trials (or mixed design trials) take place largely online, participants can get involved with research from the comfort of their own homes. This also allows more people to take part in research unimpeded by travel restrictions, limited finances, or minimal free time.

Additionally, because virtual trials allow us to free up time and resources that we’d otherwise spend on processing in-person patient intake, we are able to focus more on personal communication and ensuring each participant is fully educated on the clinical trial process before and during enrollment.

Personalization

We prioritize customer success, and our team ensures communication stays open throughout the clinical study process. This is just one way we maintain personalized research even without meeting face to face.

We also emphasize personalization in the way we match patients to clinical trials. We use the self-reported information provided by thousands of patients in our database to match patients with trials we think they will be suitable for. This means that by the time a patient is being recruited for a clinical trial with us, we may already know that they fit certain inclusion criteria or have already expressed interest in specific areas of research.

Encouraging New participants

We also strive to be welcoming and accessible to new participants who have never participated in clinical trials before, which we accomplish by:

1. Using Plain Language.

We often write our own protocols and consent forms when taking on new clinical trials, and we make every effort to reduce jargon and explain the clinical process in a simple, comprehensible way. We aren’t here to make things “sound fancy”, we’re here to ensure people feel confident joining your trial knowing exactly what is being asked of them.

2. Encouraging Feedback.

We like to invite participants and customers alike to let us know how we’re doing at every stage in the clinical research process, as this is the only way we can understand patients’ perspectives without our own biases clouding things. Encouraging participants to share their experiences with you online in forums, on social media, and by word of mouth also helps to expose more people to clinical trial opportunities that might have never otherwise heard of your research.
